(CS) As part of their monthly road safety campaigns, Luxembourg police will carry out increased checks of car tyres and lights during November to make sure cars are well equipped for autumn.
With longer evenings and adverse weather conditions, such as fog and rain, the good condition of a car is key to ensuring road safety during autumn, the police said in a statement.
Therefore, they will check that tyres are in a good condition, in accordance with regulations, and that all lights are working.
Police are also issuing a reminder that winter tyres are obligatory starting October 1, but only in conditions of snow and ice.
The Luxembourg Automobile Club (ACL) meanwhile recommends the use of winter tyres once temperatures drop, since they offer better grip in rain and at temperatures around and below 7°C.
Several garages also offer tyre and light checks, with a sticker placed in the windshield to show that the car is in good condition.
