(MSS) A few hours after the Pirate Party presented its election candidates on Saturday, Georges Dessouroux was removed from the list, as the party suddenly became aware of his past involvement in the far-right national movement.
In a press release this weekend, the party stated that they are against all kinds of xenophobia and therefore cannot tolerate that their candidates have a past in far-right politics.
Trying to explain why they hadn't discovered Dessouroux's “secret” before the list was made official, the party stated:
“We do not have a rule that says we have to investigate and check the past of new members, and the fact that Dessouroux did not mention anything at previous meetings with us shows that his intention was to deceive us.”
Olivier Koos now replaces Dessouroux on the candidate list.
