(CS) Luxembourg's Indian community came together on Saturday evening to celebrate the traditional festival of lights, or Diwali.
Every year, the Indian Association of Luxembourg holds a big celebration with song and dance to celebrate Diwali, a traditional Hindu holiday, which is also marked in other religions, such as Sikhism.
Diwali, sometimes also spelled Deewali, is seen as a chance of spiritual renewal and light conquering darkness. It also marks the beginning of the new financial year in the Indian business community.
In Luxembourg, the festivities started with a traditional Pooja worship, followed by Bollywood and traditional Punjabi song and dance performances. Later in the evening everyone got a chance to cut some shapes on the dance floor to music from a Bollywood DJ.
A scrumptious spread was prepared by Indian restaurant New Delhi in Gasperich to fuel revellers well into the night.
