The flu season is getting started in Luxembourg, prompting the health ministry to urge people considered at risk to get vaccinated.
The influenza is a respiratory infection accompanied by symptoms including a dry cough, fever, chills, muscle pain and back pain and headaches.
The illness can cause serious complications, often among the elderly, children and adults with chronic diseases and may lead to pneumonia and even death.
People aged 65 and over are considered at risk and are strongly urged to take the flu vaccine. Anyone wishing to be vaccinated should consult their doctor.
The best time for receiving the vaccine by injection is from October to November. The vaccine is effective from 15 days after vaccination and lasts up to six months. It is free to high risk patients and people aged 65 and over.
