Saturday's Night of the Museums has been declared a resounding success with visitor numbers rising by more than a quarter compared to last year.
This year marked the 13th edition of the event in which seven museums across the capital remain open until 1am. While the number “13” may be unlucky for some, it reaped results in this case, attracting 13,298 visitors, marking a 25.31 percent rise on last year's figures.
In addition to their exhibitions, each participating museum offered a range of activities including workshops and live performances of music and literature among other things.
To ease access between each venue, old buses from charity Routemaster asbl and the “Ville de Luxembourg” ferried visitors around the capital with the assistance of drivers provided by BMW Muzzolini. And, a surprise passenger this year among those taking the bus was a writer, who gave private readings.
The next museum night event has been scheduled for October 11, 2014.
