(CS) Luxembourg inflation sank to 1.5 percent in September, despite four consecutive months of price increases for petrol products.
Between August and September petrol product costs increased by 2.3 percent. However, they are still 4.7 percent lower than price levels in September last year. According to national statistics office Statec, the lower petrol prices overall are largely responsible for the low inflation rates throughout the year so far.
Travel by plane saw the biggest price drop between August and September, attributed to the end of the summer holiday season.
Most other items registered in the basket of goods used to calculate inflation, including basic groceries, tobacco and alcohol, health care, transport and cultural activities remained stable.
