The cost of learning to drive is too high in Luxembourg, an economics body has concluded after prices rose by a whopping 31.05 percent.
The explosion in costs was measured since July 2011, marking an increase that was higher than necessary according to the "Observatoire de la formation des prix" (OFP) in a recent report.
The report analysed consumer expenditure in Luxembourg and found that in July 2011, prices rose by 24.1 percent compared to the previous month.
After another adjustment in April, prices rose by 31.05 percent.
Taking into account fluctuations in wages, rental costs, fuel, maintenance, repairs and insurance among other factors, the body found that two thirds of the new price went to pay the salaries of instructors, then by the cost of running a vehicle and fuel.
The OFP found that between 2011 and 2013, "costs have increased by 2.8% " on average per year." It therefore concluded on the basis of this simulation that the real price increase since August 2011 offset by the increased costs borne by driving schools was 5.6 percent.
