In a reaction to the increased recent crime wave in the Rue de Strasbourg area of Luxembourg City, Interior Minister Jean-Marie Halsdorf announced on Friday that police should have the power of an “instant removal ” law as soon as possible. What this means is that the police would be able to order people to immediately leave to Place de Strasbourg and surrounding areas.
In an interview with wort.lu Halsdorf stated that the skills of "Agents Municipaux" (the city commume agents) should be expanded. This could be similar to the clerk's office in the German system to maintain law and order in the district relieving police offers from some of their workload.
