MUSIC
September 14: Summer in the City, Place Guillaume II and Place d'Armes, 11am to 11pm
The closing act of this year's Summer in the City celebrates the end of summer with nine concerts in the capital. Bands from the Greater Region will be playing a variety of rock, reggae, ska, blues, jazz and electro – to see the detailed programme, click here.
September 14: Orchestramania, Philharmonie, 4pm to 8pm
Go behind the scenes with Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra to meets its musician and discover more about their instruments. The programme of the open day has lots of activities in store for the whole family, and entrance is free. For more information, visit philharmonie.lu
September 14: EarGarden, Sandweiler, from 2pm
Wrap up warm and bring a brolly for this outdoor festival on Saturday in Sandweiler. Local and Greater Region bands will perform on two stages. For more information click here.
September 15: Hirsto, Makz Stanley and TMI, Goodbye Monopol - Gasperich, 1pm to 5pm
Three House music enthusiasts will provide your Sunday soundtrack at this special venue in Gasperich. Watch the old Monopol warehouse being transformed into a giant piece of urban art by graffiti artists, sip a drink at the bar and listen to the DJs play their best tunes. September 15: Madness, Rockhal, 8.30pm
Last year this band's popularity reached a new level as they performed on the roof of the Buckingham Palace at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and at the Olympic Closing Ceremony. Doors open at 7pm, with the show set to start at 8.30pm. For more information, go to rockhal.lu.
CINEMA
September 13: Avant-première of Vijay & I, Utopolis, 7pm
First screened at the Locarno Festival in August, this Luxembourg co-production has now made its way to the country's cinemas. The film tells the story of a failed actor who is mistakenly believed to have died in an accident, and uses the chance to start his life afresh.
September 13: The Mark of Zorro, Cinémathèque, 8.30pm
Another screening of an old film classic – this Friday it's time for the 1940s Zorro, who fights to keep his identity secret while trying to restore justice in early California.
September 15: Ciné Breakfast, Utopia, 10.30am
Grab your breakfast at Ciné Utopia before catching one of five films (Behind the Candelabra, Riddick, The Butler, Planes 2D or "Da geht noch was") that start at 11am. Tickets cost 10.80 euros (reduced price 9.30 euros and children under 12 5.70 euros). For more information, visit utopolis.lu
EXHIBITIONS

Until September 15: Altars of Madness & The Changing of the Guard, Casino Luxembourg
This weekend is the last for the two exhibitions at Casino Luxembourg in the City centre. Inspired by variations of the music genre Metal, Altars of Madness shows how this particular genre has found expression in contemporary art. Also not to miss is the Treacle collective's project The Changing of the Guard, where the themes of waiting and illusion are connected by means of a magician and visitors will actively be a part of the exhibition.

September 14: Discover Luxembourg, LCTO, from 12.30pm
The Discover Luxembourg treasure hunt kicks off on Saturday at 12.30pm in front of the Luxembourg City Tourist office in Place Guillaume II. Sign up your team in advance or on the day. Find out more here or on discover-lux.lu
September 15: The Roadshow, Belval, 2pm to 5pm
F1 fans should mark their calender for this event, where the Red Bull Team visits Belval to race on a 2,300 metre long racing track. Former British F1 racing driver David Coulthard will make an appearance, and karting and other activities will be available for youngsters. Doors open at 9am with warm up laps for the circuit kicking off from 11am. The event will then officially open at 2pm and run until 5pm. Tickets cost 18 euros if purchased in advance.
