(AFP) Conservative challenger Tony Abbott declared Australia "under new management" Saturday as voters ended six years of tumultuous Labor rule, with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd conceding election defeat and vacating his party's leadership.
With more than 90 percent of the vote counted, the Australian Electoral Commission said Abbott's Liberal/National coalition was heading for a landslide win, leading in 90 seats in the 150-seat House of Representatives, to Labor's 55.
