Two Luxembourgers have been arrested in Germany on suspicion of stealing a van while high on drugs and alcohol.
The pair, aged 22 and 29, are accused of stealing a Sprinter repair van from outside of "Rocas bar" in Luxembourg City on Wednesday afternoon.
According to German police, they are believed to have driven to Trier, in Germany, where they collided with a railing at the junction of Kaiserstraße and Johanniterufer.
When police attempted to intervene, the two suspects tried to flee. One, who was caught with the help of a passerby, reportedly attacked a police officer. The second suspect was arrested shortly afterwards.
A subsequent blood sample suggests that the two were under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The property damage caused by the collision is estimated at around 10,000 euros, German police say.
German Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information about this incident should call + 49 651 - 9779 3200.
