A young woman was rescued by passersby when she was attacked on her way home from the Schueberfouer.
Luxembourg Police report that the woman was walking along rue Emil Lavandier in Merl at around 00.30am on Wednesday morning when she was grabbed from behind.
The attacker held a hand over the victim's mouth and the two fell to the ground. The woman's screams attracted passersby, causing the attacker to flee.
The attacker was described as around 30 years old, 1.8 metres tall of a stout stature and with a three-day beard. He had short, blond hair and was wearing a blue T-shirt and a bandage on his hand at the time of the attack.
