(CS) During the night from Friday to Saturday police confiscated six driver's licences and filed charges against one motorcyclist who was speeding and driving drunk, without insurance and without a valid licence.
Around 9pm on Firday police stopped a speeding biker in Belvaux. During the control police found that the motorcyclist did not have a valid driver's licence and that several driving bans had been issued against him. He was also drunk and his bike was not insured.
Police confiscated the bike and filed charges against the driver.
Shortly after 3am another drunk motorcyclist saw their licence confiscated. The young man had returned from the Schueberfouer by bus and decided to take a spin around Sandweiler. He was not wearing a helmet or protective clothing when he fell and skidded 20 metres across the pavement.
The prosecution ordered the confiscation of the bike.
Later in the night around 4.05am, police stopped a drunk driver during a control in Belvaux. The man had been speeding and driving so close to the cars parked alongside the road that he hit the police's traffic paddle with his side mirror.
The licence was confiscated on the spot. Further licences were confiscated in Belvaux, as well as Bertrange, Luxembourg City and Drinklange.
But not only motorists were caught driving drunk on Friday night. A woman in Differdange spotted a cyclist lying in the street in nick of time around 5am. The cyclist said that another motorist had passed him by too closely, causing him to fall.
The cyclist was found to be drunk, however, and police are investigating.
