(Relaxnews) TechCrunch has published the first photos of the iPhone wearing its new shiny coat. In addition to the traditional black and white, Apple's next smartphone will reportedly be available in a pale gold color dubbed "champagne".
While this new, flashier colour is said to be obtained simply by anodizing the smartphone's aluminum shell, fans of all that glitters can already acquire iPhones made of solid gold, or even encrusted with diamonds, from third-party brands. Amosu offers an ultra high-end version of the iPhone 5 at 18,800 euros, while Goldgenie sells its 24 CT iPhone 5 at prices exceeding 56,000 euros.
A more affordable alternative, the potential champagne iPhone 5S could be a hit in Asian markets, where the colour is particularly in vogue.
Official presentation on September 10
Apple will officially present the iPhone 5S on September 10, most likely alongside a more affordable version of the smartphone that the rumour mill is calling the iPhone 5C. As far as the 5S, rumours suggest the presence of a fingerprint reader for enhanced data protection, as well as a more powerful processor, a higher-resolution camera (13MP), a double flash and a new home button.
Of course, the iPhone 5 will run on iOS 7, the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, which was upgraded with an entirely new interface last June.
