Hydrochloric acid was leaked into groundwater following a fault at the Cattenom nuclear power plant on Luxembourg's border with France.
Altogether 58 m3, equivalent to 483 US fluid barrels, of the highly corrosive acid were released from a reactor coolant through a pipe on July 23, the Nuclear Safety Authority (NSA) reported recently following an inspection on August 6.
