(MSS) With the bloody unrest in Egypt, many travellers and sun seekers have had to cancel this year's holiday plans. But according to Adrien Ney, Luxair's general director, there is no need for concern and the planned flights from Luxembourg to Egypt will not be cancelled.
“In regards to the situation developments, we see no reason not to let allow planes in the air,” Ney said in an interview with DNR Radio shortly after a plane had just taken off from Luxembourg destined for Egypt.
"On the next Egypt flight, scheduled for Friday night, only nine re-bookings were made, which is a very low number", Ney said.
“According to our information, there is no tension in Hurghada, Sharm-El-Sheikh or Marsa Alam, just more security forces present. Nothing frightening,” Ney said.
In terms of future travel warnings, Luxair will follow the of the Luxembourgish Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommendations
“If the situation changes and passengers will have to return, we will of course take care of this,” he said.
