(CS) The Perseid meteor shower, also dubbed the “fireball champion” is set to dazzle stargazers this weekend, provided the skies are clear.
The Perseid meteor shower promises lots of shooting stars, with up to 100 meteors per hour detected in previous years. According to NASA research the Perseids produce more so-called fireballs than any other annual shower.
The Amateur Astronomers of Luxembourg are hosting a stargazing session on Saturday night. The group meets at the St Donat chapel between Beidweiler and Eschweiler at 10pm. The event only takes place in case of good weather. For more information visit aal.lu
The best time to view the Perseids meanwhile is the night from August 11 to August 12, between 11pm and 4.30am, according to spacedex.com
