After separating from her wealthy husband, Hal (Alec Baldwin), Jasmine (Cate Blanchett) must say goodbye to her comfortable life in Manhattan's upper class. The film opens as she moves to stay with her sister, Ginger, in a small house in a working-class neighbourhood in San Fransisco.
