The driver of a lorry registered to Luxembourg is suspected of causing an accident which killed one worker and injured three others in Belgium, according to “La Nouvelle Gazette”.
The Belgian daily said that the driver was travelling along the E42 close to Charleroi at around 2.20pm on Wednesday when he dozed off and collided with a truck used by road workers.
The collision resulted in three people suffering burns, of which one was in a serious condition. A fourth person was killed by the impact.
The lorry's on-board digital tachograph, which records work and rest periods, is being checked, the Belgian paper said.
The lorry is part of the fleet of Luxembourg-based freight operators Arthur Welter.
