Brussels wants to limit fees on credit cards, an initiative that should ultimately benefit consumers in spite of warnings by MasterCard.
The multilaterial interchange fees (MIFs) paid by the merchant's bank to the buyer's when making a purchase with a credit card, are passed onto the merchant, affecting the price of the product and therefore the consumer.
