The British Chamber of Commerce to Luxembourg has paid tribute to the late Baroness Thatcher, focusing on the strong relationships she forged abroad.
Chamber Chairman John Johnston told wort.lu that the former British Prime Minister, who died of a stroke on Monday, will be remembered as one of Britain's “most historic” Prime Ministers, and that she will “live on in history.”
“Her strong and respected relationships with other great catalysts of change such as Reagan, Gorbachev and Deng Xiaoping were profoundly influential in re-positioning Britain on the world stage,” the chairman said in a statement.
He cites Thatcher as a strong advocate of free trade and describes her as an “influential architect of the European single market”.
“She should be remembered for being a passionate advocate of Britain and British values both at home and abroad and someone who never flinched in the face of adversity and the defense of Britain's interests,” he concluded.
The business leader's words echo similar sentiments by British Ambassador to Luxembourg Alice Walpole, who will set up a book of condolence at the Embassy Residence on Thursday. To find out more, click on the link below.
