(CS/fh) Representatives of the Luxembourg armed forces were joined by members of the EU's and NATO's military committees for the 34th edition of the traditional Officers' Ball on Saturday evening.
Some 240 guests gathered at the Cercle Cité in Place d'Armes for an evening of dining and dancing.
Among the guests of honour was Luxembourg's Interior and Defense Minister Jean-Marie Halsdorf, as well as representatives of the US armed foces.
Army General Gaston Reinig, General Inspector Marc Zovilé and General Director Romain Nettgen opened the ball, with musical entertainment by the “Heemelhaus” orchestra under Romain Thielen and culinary treats provided by Armaud Steinmetz, president of the Vatel Club Luxembourg, and his son Paul.
The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, patrons of the event, were not present.
The ball was organised by the Luxembourg officers' association and the association of the senior cadre of the Grand Ducal police.
Proceeds of the ball will go to a Luxembourg charity.
