Construction at the Ban de Gasperich is going to plan with work expected to begin on the main boulevards next year.
The new roads will be the main arteries connecting almost all projects on the greenfield site, which include a new Auchan supermarket, shops, offices and restaurants.
The new offices for consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers along with their European Academy do not, however, depend on these roads as they will adjoin the existing roads. Work on these buildings continues apace with the garage platform 2 complete and 1 underway.
Further changes will take place next Spring when a tender is launched for the expansion of Rue de Raiffeisen in conjunction with the new Boulevard Raffeisen.
The centre of the new district includes a 100,000 metre squared complex with shops and an Auchan supermarket, restaurants, offices, conference centre, hotel and fitness centre.
At the northern end of the site 70,000 square metres has been set aside for housing, a tenth of which will be “affordable housing”, though not social housing.
Altogether the roads and construction work are expected to take around three and a half years to complete, with most projects expected to reach completion in 2017. Plans for a new fire and rescue station at the Gluck roundabout are currently being reviewed by the Chamber of Deputies and the City council.
