A pedestrian was killed by a falling tree in the German town of Trier, just over the border from Luxembourg.
The tragic accident occurred at around 1.20pm on Thursday when the 100-year-old Chestnut tree fell on pedestrians opposite the New Mintons restaurant.
One person became trapped and died of their injuries. At the time of publishing emergency rescue services were working to release the body.
It is thought that the tree had died and rotted, causing it to fall of its own accord.
