(ADW) A dramatic assault took place in Schengen on Friday morning ending up in a kidnapping at a car dealership.
According to police three mean were seen snooping around the entrance of a car showroom at about 7.30am. The trio had previously called by phone enquiring about buying a car.
In fact the enquiry appeared to simply be a cover as once the men entered the dealership they immediately attacked the salesman, handcuffed him before bundling him into the the boot of a black BMW 116 which was for sale on the forecourt. The car was German registered with a number plate showing that it came from Merzig (MFD).
The suspects then drove the car to Burmerange in the direction on Emerange where they then abandoned the car complete with the salesman still in the boot.
A local worker passing the parked vehicle by the side of the road and believing it to be suspicious, stopped to inspect and was able to open the boot and free the man from his handcuffs.
The criminal investigation unit has now started an investigation, with an appeal for witnesses. The police are now looking for anyone who may have seen the men near the car dealership in Schengen on Friday morning and noticed something suspicious. At the same time help is also sought for anyone that might of seen the black BMW 116 en route for Emerange.
The three suspects are described as as black men, one wearing a balaclava, and two others, according to police, of “North African” origin wearing sunglasses and with covered faces.
