The Grand-Duchy is known for its expensive houses and apartments, and the prices are continuing to rise.
This trend is reflected in the current figures of the "athome.lu" real estate portal. Both buying and renting properties has become more expensive in Luxembourg
compared
to the previous year.
A house now costs an average of €704,576 and you have to pay an average of €425,628 for an apartment. There are big regional differences in the market though, with prices being as much as twice as high in the centre of the country as in the north.
The more central, the more expensive
New buildings are still very much in demand in Luxembourg and people pay an average of €525,738
for a new apartment. This represents an increase of 6% over the past 12 months.
Two-bedroom apartments are particularly in demand and account for almost half of the new buildings for sale. Those are mostly located in the centre and in the south of the country.
Rentals are more and more expensive
On average, you have to expect a monthly rent of €1,412 for an old apartment, and €2,577 for an old house in all parts of the country.
The rent prices for apartments have risen by 4% in the last 12 months, while for houses, prices have risen by 12%. This increase is mainly influenced by higher rents in Luxembourg City and Esch/Alzette, where more than 50% of the rental properties are located.
