Luxembourg's most eagerly awaited party left few disappointed as the capital centre was transformed into a party venue.
The streets were filled with some 50,000 revellers, who turned out to witness the spectacular fireworks display and raise a glass or two to Grand Duke Henri's birthday.
Fireworks were launched from the Pont Adlophe, accompanied by music streamed to the crowds via speakers located around the city.
This year the light show lasted just 15 minutes but it never failed to delight viewers, who filled the Place de la Constitution as well as roads and park spaces lining the Pétrusse edge.
The festivities had started earlier in the evening with a music programme in Place Guillaume II as well as Place de la Constitution, where Abba tribute band Arrival from Sweden entertained visitors.
And it was to the backdrop of music that the evening continued. Various stages had been constructed around the city and hosted live music and dj sets, playing well into the early hours.
