MUDAM turns 5
Luxembourg's modern art museum is to celebrate its fifth birthday with a jam-packed weekend of guided tours, workshops and, of course, birthday cake!

(JB) Luxembourg's modern art museum is to celebrate its fifth birthday with an open door event, featuring guided tours, workshops and, of course, birthday cake.
The special two-day event at the MUDAM also offers a first sneaky peak at five new exhibitions when it opens from July 2 to 3.
And, as with any birthday, the line-up includes a special birthday party. MUDAM loves you will take place on the Saturday from 6pm in the park, offering live music and a barbecue, with celebrations moving to d:qliq after midnight.
MUDAM's birthday celebrations were announced this week by museum director Enrico Lunghi. At a press conference, the director said that the museum had played a significant role in transforming the country's contemporary and modern art scene.
Culture minister Octavie Modert agreed, adding: “In just five years contemporary art has become much more visible in Luxembourg. Thanks to the MUDAM, Luxembourg has garnered a reputation as cultured country.”
Exhibitions
Five new temporary exhibitions will be open to the public on Saturday from 11am to 8pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. These include Mac Adams, Melvin Moti: The inner self in outer space, Out of Storage III. Replay, John Stezaker, Pascale Marthine Tayou: Black Forest, Walking through...Collection Mudam, Mobile Light, light installation by Nathalie Dewez.

Guided visits
In a bid to encourage visitors to get to grips with the exhibitions, the MUDAM is offering guided tours in several lanuages. On Saturday tours run at 11am, 11.30am and 3.30pm in Luxembourgish, at noon, 2.30pm and 4.30pm in French and at 12.30pm, 2pm and 4pm in German.
On Sunday, tours will be offered at 11.30am, 3pm and 3.30pm in Luxembourgish, at noon, 2pm and 4pm in German and at 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm in French. There will be a tour in English at 11am.
Workshops
ustom Eyes: on Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 6pm will see French designer Emilie Voirin inspire budding designers to create their own sunglasses.

Performances
Members of freestyle magazine will give frisbee demonstrations on Saturday from 11am to 8pm and on Sunday from 11am to 6pm.
Birthday cake
Oberweis has produced a series of special cakes to mark the occasion. These will be available from the MUDAM café and in all Oberweis stores until July 21.
MUDAM loves you party
On the Saturday from 6pm to midnight a party will be held in the park Drai, offering entertainment, live music and a giant barbecue. Festivities continue at d:qliq from midnight.
