(ADW) This is your final warning! If you currently hold the old format of grey card or “carte grise” vehicle registration document, then you have until 30 June to exchange it for the new 2 card format; grey and yellow.
Most people have already made the change, especially for those that have passed through the M.O.T. or contrôle technique, recently where the carte grise is automatically updated during the annual inspection.
The exchange process will continue automatically even beyond the 30 June, for vehicles not registered in the name of a holder.
Drivers who still have one or more registration cards in the old format should visit one of the country's contrôle technique centre offices where the new cards are issued straight away.
After 30th June, it will be forbidden to drive using the old carte grise.
The idea behind the new 2-card system means one is not valid without the other regarding vehicle registration or in relation to selling your vehicle. The grey card should be kept in the car, the yellow at home. If your car or papers are stolen, they are useless without the yellow version.
