(ADW) A series of incidents and accidents have recently taken place involving Luxembourg motorists just over the border in Germany keeping authorities there busy, and Monday was no exception.
A Luxembourg registered car was recovered from the Moselle River on Monday morning in Konz not far from Trier by the region's special “Water Police” division.
A special crane was used to lift the vehicle slowly out of the murky depth of the river. Gradually a silver Toyota Avensis appeared, which was later revealed to have been stolen in Esch sur Alzette back in May earlier this year.
The car was found by chance when a scuba diver during a dive, discovered it lying on its roof at the bottom of the Moselle River.
Police were able to ascertain that the car entered the river via a ramp up stream.
The car will now be handed over to Luxembourg authorities for further investigation.
