(JB) Luxembourg may have huge appeal for foreign workers but it is not as attractive for people from outside the EU as you might think.
According to Eurostat's 2010 study into foreigners living in Europe, non-EU nationals accounted for just 6% of the Grand Duchy's population.
The figure was slightly lower than the EU average (6.5%) and considerably lower than the proportion of non-EU citizens living in Latvia (17%) and Estonia (15%).
The Grand Duchy, however, maintains its place as the European nation with the highest total proportion of foreign residents. In 2010, 43% of the country's population (215,700 people) were expatriates living and working in the Grand Duchy.
The only country which came close to rivalling these high levels for importing foreign talent was Switzerland, where 22% of the population (1.7 million people) are of non-Swiss nationality.
The least attractive country for foreign nationals, according to the report, appeared to be Poland.
The eastern European country, which has seen massive migration movements to western Europe since it joined the EU in 2004, counted only 0.1% of foreign nationals among its total population.
