(JB) 18 students from Luxembourg's Sacred Heart University had a close escape during a visit to India when three bombs exploded nearby.
The MBA students were on an official trip to Mumbai on Wednesday when the three bombs were detonated in the city's economic centre, killing 17 people and injuring hundreds.
According to Luxembourg free paper L'Essentiel, none of the visitors were harmed. Professor Alfred Steinherr told L'Essentiel that the group had been in a shopping centre close to the attacks when they heard the explosions.
“We heard the explosion and saw the smoke rising. About five minutes later we realised that it was a bombing. People remained calm- their reaction surprised us. Here the value of human life is not the same as in our own countries," he said.
The bombing did not change the group's itinerary and they went on to visit a local business as planned.
Today investigators continue to examine forensic evidence and footage from closed circuit televisions for clues about the triple bomb blasts that shook India's business hub of Mumbai.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan told CNN-IBN news channel on Friday that investigators had collected evidence such as blood samples and explosive materials from the bombing sites and were also analyzing security footage for more clues into the attacks.
No one has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attacks and investigators have named no immediate suspects.
The bombings were the worst terror attack in Mumbai since a 2008 siege in which 166 people were killed over three days.
