The three daily newspapers, the Luxemburger Wort, La Voix du Luxembourg and Point24 are read every day by 280,500 people older than 15 and resident in the Grand Duchy. This record level of readership, has made the group Saint-Paul Luxembourg, of which wort.lu is part of, the principle source of information in the country since the year 2000.
These results are part of a recent study carried out by research agency TNS ILRES Plurimedia between September 2010 and May 2011.
With 182,100 daily readers, the Luxemburger Wort is by far the most read newspaper in the Grand Duchy and has steadily grown. In 2000 the figure was 178,600.
Added to that subscribers of e-paper (the online version of the newspaper) and visitors to wort.lu the figure reached a grand total of 237,500 readers for the Luxemburger Wort, proving the importance now placed on electronic media.
But Saint-Paul is not all about Luxemburger Wort. The papers La Voix du Luxembourg and Point24 have made considerable progress. Notably Point24 alone has 11,000, or just over a quarter, extra readers compared to 2010.
There are still 2 publications to mention. Télécran which is by far the most read weekly television magazine in Luxembourg with 120,100 readers, and the weekly Portuguese newspaper Contacto, which has reached 50,200 readers. The entire Portuguese population of Luxembourg as a whole makes 65,600 residents therefore Contacto reaches 77%.
Unfortunately the English wort.lu/en is far to young to have taken part in the survey but hopefully by this time next year it will be adding to Saint-Paul Luxembourg's impressive readership figures.
