(JB) A busy cut-through road which was closed for 10 months is set to reopen to traffic this Friday.
Rue de la Tour Jacob, linking the Rives de Clausen to Cents, was closed in October last year following resurfacing.
It was due to open in February this year but was delayed a further five months because of infrastructure work at a nearby development.
The closure was widely criticised this month when, during the Jazz and Blues festival, hosted in Clausen and the Grund, visitors who normally used the route as a cut-through between districts faced a muddy detour along the river bank.
Although the reopening is partial- traffic lights will be installed at the bend of rue de la Tour Jacob where a single lane of traffic will be allowed through, it is likely to be welcomed by residents and local businesses, who faced almost a year of noise and dust from the building site as well as the inconvenience.
Bus passengers should be warned that from August 1 onwards, bus lines 14 and CN1 will stop at the bus stops originally outlined in last year's timetables with slight variations to the times.
For number 14, every second bus will continue along the line 25 route that terminates at Cents-Waassertuerm towards Kirchberg and Dommeldange-Gare. Temporary bus stops at Cents-Kierch and Dominique Pire will be removed.
