Luxembourg based internet telephony company Skype, from their offices in Rives de Clausen, announced on Tuesday afternoon the release of their online phoning app specifically for the Apple iPad tablet.
The new app, which can be downloaded on Apple's iTunes store, lets users make free voice and video calls from their iPads to other Skype users over Wi-Fi or 3G wireless connections. The app also allows users to send instant messages and text messages, and to make calls to landlines and mobile phones for a small fee.
The resolution on the new app is said to be of “very good quality” and works with both the iPad 1 and the iPad 2, although the iPad 1 can only receive video.
