(CH) Continuing their industrial action, German air traffic controllers announced a new strike for Tuesday morning. The controllers plan to stop work between 6am and noon. Last Thursday, a court prohibited an announced six-hour strike at the last minute.
A strike by the German air traffic control employees would have a major impact on international flights and thus also affect Luxembourg Airport.
Presumably, many flights to Germany, so to Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich, will be cancelled. Furthermore, passengers should expect delays and disruptions throughout the whole day.
Accordingly, a six-hours strike would affect 2.500 flights and up to 300.000 passengers.
Employees not only demand higher wages but also more favourable working conditions for German air traffic control. Amongst others, the German Transport Minister Peter Ramsauer fiercely criticised the planned strike in the middle of the holiday season.
As usual in such cases, Luxair advises its passengers to check online for more information regarding their departure and arrival times, as well as cancellations and delays.
