It's been a remarkable leap forward for the Luxembourg Wort's online portals, which have nearly doubled their readership during the last two years.
According to a study by TNS ILReS Plurimedia, the number of wort.lu readers grew from a daily average of 19.600 to 36.000 during the last two years.
The study is aimed at highlighting the readership of newspapers, magazines, TV programs, radio stations and Internet sites.
More than 3.000 residents of Luxembourg were surveyed from September 2010 to May 2011 about how they gather news information.
Wort.lu performed very well and maintained its leading position in terms of pure news portals, beating lessentiel.lu (23.300 daily readers) and Tageblatt.lu (8.900 readers). The cross-media study also shows that the average age of wort.lu readers has become younger in recent years.
Overall, habits also changed: in recent years, for example, the number of wort.lu readers on the weekends has almost tripled.
Wort.lu continues this upward trend as it launched its French edition in early 2011, wort.lu/fr and its English edition, wort.lu/en in spring.
