A best-selling US novel and film is the inspiration behind a new dance show to be performed at Luxembourg's national theatre.
How Do They Know That They Are The Last Humans On Earth? is based on Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road, the post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son across a landscape blasted by a disaster which destroys most life on Earth.
The novel, which has already gone from page to screen will now go to the stage thanks to the genius of Luxembourgish choreographer Sylvia Camarda.
The winner of the 2011 Luxembourg Dance Prize is known for her experimental creations, which push well beyond the boundaries of traditional dance.
Camarda, who studied in London and Cannes, performed in the Cirque du Soleil in Canada before returning to Europe.
Audiences can catch her ambitious show, which is in English, during its run at the Luxembourg National Theatre from January 21 to 27 next year.
Camarda's contribution forms part of a drama-infused line-up of 22 performances in the 2011-2012 season, which was announced this week.
Other plays include a Frost/Nixon (March 2012), a German-language exploring reality TV and drawing inspiration from the infamous David Frost chatshow interview with US president Nixon.
Other highlights include Purgatorio (April 2012), exploring themes of the human condition, Peanuts (October 4) looking at police violence and Le Navire Night (March 5) by Marguerite Duras.
