(AP) Belgium's caretaker Prime Minister Yves Leterme says he has been asked to take a leading position at the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
He said on Tuesday that if the OECD member states confirm his position as assistant secretary general later this week, he will switch jobs only when the ongoing government negotiations in Belgium allow it.
Belgium has been without a fully-fledged government since elections in June 2010. Negotiations between the Dutch-speaking and Francophone parties to change the constitution to approve more regional autonomy have been unsuccessful since.
