(ADW) Thick black smoke billowing from a garage on route de Thionville in Howald polluting the stairwell of a nearby building, triggered local residents to call the local fire department on Monday.
It was at about 1:45am on Monday morning that firefighters arrived at the scene to discover a rubbish container in a garage ablaze producing black toxic smoke.
As the container was on wheels, firefighters managed to roll it out of the garage and away from any building to avoid the fire spreading further and causing major property damage.
According to the police, they believe that the incident was a case of arson.
Nobody in the the eight storey building adjacent to the garage was injured or suffered smoke inhalation but they did complain that in recent years this kind of incident in the area has increased substantially.
