(JB) Luxembourg air freight firm Cargolux has confirmed that it is still interested in obtaining Boeing's superjets, which were rejected earlier this month.
The information emerged during an emergency meeting between the European freight giant and the aviation division of Luxembourg union OGBL on September 20.
According to the OGBL, Cargolux confirmed that it is still in “intensive and constructive” talks with Boeing over the Boeing 747-8Fs, the purchase of which was delayed because the planes reportedly did not perform as expected.
“The management is still interested in the new plane the Boeing 747-8F, which it must absolutely be integrated into the fleet of Cargolux,” an OGBL press statement said.
The union said that it was reassured by this news, given the importance of the new planes for Cargolux's strategy and the future of its staff.
The emergency meeting was called by OGBL between the union and Cargolux's board of directors, including director general Frank Freiman and Henning zur Hausen.
According to the union, the meeting was carried out in a “very positive atmosphere”.
