(ADW) The trial of the biggest air disaster in Luxembourg, the crash of a Luxair Fokker 50 which killed twenty, began on Monday in a court hearing of experts.
The accident took place on 6 November 2002. The plane on its final approach to Luxembourg airport from Berlin in thick fog, crashed in a field by the roadside between Niederanven and Roodt-sur-Syre.
Nine witnesses will appear in court next week, however on Monday the court heard the reports of two French experts.
"We immediately noticed that something was wrong with the propellers," said the expert before plunging into an extremely technical explanation, pointing out that the pilot had overlooked a procedure.
Lawyers for the victims’ families have filed four civil cases to claim compensation between 50,000 and 150,000 euros.
