(str/aw) Saarland police, just over the border in Germany, landed a major drug’s catch when they discovered 8 kg of heroin stashed in the boot of a car yesterday.
It was on the A8 motorway at Pellinger tunnel between Schengen in Saarbrücken that police stopped a suspicious looking car. Repeatedly the 35-year-old Romanian driver gave contradictory information regarding the car’s use.
The officers quickly became suspicious, and decided to take a closer look at the car where they quickly realised why the driver was acting so shady. Under a blanket in the boot of the car police discovered several parcels containing a total of eight kilos of heroin.
The man, who lives near Mannheim, was brought before a magistrate in Saarbrücken and detained. Narc the State Criminal Police Office are carrying out further investigations.
