(J.B./aw) A milk transporter in Wasserbillig was involved in a road accident on Tuesday evening, resulting in it being stuck on the metal guardrails by the side of the road.
It was when exiting a roundabout having come off the A1 motorway to take the steep road to Wasserbillig, the accident occurred.
On a wet surface, the driver lost control of the truck and skated across the road. The milk transporter, empty at the time, smashed into the metal barrier by the side of the road before mounting it and finally becoming stuck on top. This left the truck at a right-angle with the road, with the back blocking the road to traffic.
No one was injured in the accident, although the driver suffered from shock. The salvage operation that followed however proved a little more complicated than expected.
First the guardrails and the truck had to be separated from each other, before the truck could then be collected by a special transporter.
For the entire duration of the recovery operation at one of the busiest times of the day, the road to Wasserbillig had to be completely closed to traffic causing major traffic tailbacks.
