(CS) Cinemagoers will be able to enjoy films in HD and 3D at their regional movie theatre after the Centre de diffusion et d'animation cinématographique (CDAC) has installed digital projectors in its five cinemas.
The network, including Cinémaacher in Grevenmacher, Ciné Orion in Ulflingen, Ciné Prabbeli in Wiltz, Ciné Sura in Echternach, and the Scala in Diekirch, decided to switch to the Digital Cinema Package system from the traditional 35mm, despite the financial costs involved.
Together with the help of the culture ministry, Utopia SA and the Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA), the cinemas are now equipped with the latest technology and up to date for years to come.
The cooperation of CDAC has proved vital to maintaining these smaller local cinemas, each with only one screen.
Digital cinema has been getting ever more important, with a rise in 3D movies, and cinemas the world over are having to convert to new projection systems.
