(ADW) 2 people were injured when fire broke out in a house in Huncherange on Thursday afternoon causing structural and material damage.
2 of the residents tried to tackle the blaze with fire extinguishers, that appeared to have been sparked in the kitchen of the house in Rue de la Résistance, but in vain. During their firefighting attempt, both suffered from smoke inhalation and were later taken to hospital.
16 firefighters and 6 paramedics from Bettembourg arrived at the scene. Using breathing apparatus firefighters fought their way through thick smoke and eventually extinguished the fire. The house has been condemned for the time-being and therefore uninhabitable until further notice.
Once the blaze had been extinguished, firefighters swept the entire house with a thermal imaging camera looking for clues as to how the fire began and spread.
