(str/ADW) Luxembourg police are currently testing their cool new blue flashing light bars for their police vehicles, with integral display panels. This new design, never before used in the Grand Duchy, will mean that cars equipped with the new system will be able to give direct commands such as “Follow us”, “Stop”, “Keep right” etc.
One of the new devices is equipped with a fold-out display board with a very large text box. This panel can be used at speeds of up to 180 km / h.
A second device, also being tested, has a display integrated into the blue light bar on the roof of the car. Scrolling text instructions can be displayed.
Both systems can be programmed with 200 different messages which means this being Luxembourg, multilingual messages have been taken into account.
The flashing blue lights themselves have been updated with powerful LED lights ensuring increased visibility both during the day and at night.
The below video from the police is in German, but shows you just how the new police light systems work, although it may be verging on being ever so slightly “geeky”.
