(NA/ADW) On Thursday as students gathered in the Centre Hamilius for demonstrations against education reforms, four people wearing white masks appeared. At first they were thought to be disguised students, and so did not draw much attention.
However once students dispersed from Centre Hamilius to make their way to the Ministry of Education, it seems that the masked characters left the group for Parliament and the Chambre des députés building.
The weekend then saw photographs circulating around the internet on social networks, especially Twitter, of the masked “avengers” posing outside the Chambre des députés.
Are they Hackers Anonymous?
Several web users quickly made the connection of the unknown mask wearers with those used by a well known hackers group “Hackers Anonymous”. Among the group’s feats has been attacking credit card operator websites that refused to support payments to Wikileaks.
So, is the appearance of the same masked characters in front of the Chambre des députés a sign or warning that parliament’s website is about to be hacked? Or is another website a target? Or is this just a joke?
