For a Luxembourg band that has only been together for a year, Slim Suzie have achieved a lot, playing gigs everywhere from smoky little bars to bigger support acts for other bands, but now it's their turn to be in the spotlight!
With their laid back blues rock style, sounding a bit Oasis and a tad Stone Roses, Slim Suzie are proudly releasing their first ever EP on Friday night at d:qliq in Luxembourg City.
“We decided to do an EP of five tracks. One of them, 'Knock the head of its crown', was recorded in Luxembourg before we went to Germany to Bear Cave studios. They helped with the recording of the EP, and we are really happy with the results,” explained Niko Muttilainen the band's lead guitarist.
It has to be said that when you listen to Slim Suzie, you would never guess the band hailed from Luxembourg, but that's hardly surprising considering they are made up of two Finns, an American-Swede and a Spaniard, but all have grown up in the Grand Duchy. Their style reflects their cultural diversity, and if you are into blues-rock or “new wave Rock'n'Roll” as the group calls it, then the event on 11 November at d:qliq is not to be missed.
But Slim Suzie are not alone on the night. Supporting acts will be Quentin Lagonza playing 60's/70's influenced rock and Cyclorama who describe their style as “massive sounding dark wave/instrumental rock.”
The whole evening starts at 8:30pm in d:qliq and cost €5 or €10 with the EP.
However if you are interested in winning a pair of tickets, Fuze Luxembourg who help support local music, are running a competition to win tickets and EP for the evening. Enter the competition and hear an interview with Slim Suzie at the following link:
