(lc/ADW) The LSAP must decide by this Monday evening, who will succeed Jeannot Krecké at the Ministry of Economy in February. According to information received by the Luxemburger Wort, the successor could well be current Employment Minister, Nicolas Schmit who would lead a super-ministry
The LSAP Minister would be in charge of Economy, Labour and Foreign Trade. This emerged from discussions conducted by the party chairman Alex Bodry within the National Committee this weekend.
The Employment Minister appears to have gained the upper hand in negotiations over the other serious candidate for the position, namely Étienne Schneider. The chances of Esch Mayor Lydia Mutsch taking the position are virtually zero.
It is this Monday evening that the General Council will select its official LSAP candidate to succeed Jeannot Krecké, who announced on November 10 his intention to leave the Ministry of Economy and politics altogether.
